Snappers Oceanfront Restaurant & Bar in Key Largo

I had never been to Snappers in Key Largo before, but it is apparently very popular (3K reviews and 4 stars on Trip Advisor). We were driving back home from the Marathon Seafood Festival and were desperate for a bite to eat. My parents ate at Snappers a while ago and were not impressed. Considering all the great reviews and the recommendation we received from a local, we decided to give it another try (and I’m glad we did).

Since we were hot and exhausted from walking around in the heat and blazing sun, we opted to sit inside. I was thrilled by this choice since my body was aching from a sunburn I got while at the beach the day before. We had to wait a bit since the place was packed on this gorgeous Sunday afternoon.

After finally sitting and meeting our server (the staff appeared to be going crazy), we ordered some beers. I’m not sure exactly what beer I had – it was something on draft that was similar to a Blue Moon (peep the Blue Moon glass).

Since we were starving (way too hot to comfortably eat at the Seafood Festival), we ordered three appetizers – Calamari, Smoked Fish Spread and Conch Fritters. They were all excellent. The Smoked Fish Spread was a standout, though; it had chunks of fish and the perfect smoky flavor.

For lunch, almost all of us ordered Hogfish Sandwiches with coleslaw. I opted to try the Hogfish blackened and I did not regret my choice. The fish was fresh and spicy and the bun was soft and sweet. For a Caylin twist, spread a bit of coleslaw on the inside of the bun!

We most definitely did not have even an ounce of space left for dessert. We were thoroughly content with your lunch/dinner.

If in the area, you should definitely stop by for a bite to eat, a drink (or a couple) and a relaxing oceanfront view.

XO,

Caylin
