Ideas to Keep You Busy During Quarantine

As I am finishing up MBA (I graduate in August, YAY!), I have been actively trying out various hobbies and activities to keep busy during the quarantine. Hopefully, you find this list helpful!

Painting

Whether it is painting wine bottles or painting your room, painting is a great way to spend your time. I have already painted 3 bottles and helped my sister paint her room.

Mood Board

This is the most Pisces thing I have done during quarantine and I do not regret it! I am so proud of my mood board. I actually did a vlog on it, if you want to check it out. Looking at my mood board every day brings me so much joy. It was also such a lovely Sunday activity.

Cooking/Baking/Drink-Making

Cooking/Baking to me is a form of creative expression. I only like it if I feel creatively motivated to try something out. I wish that I have been doing some more cooking/baking, but I think soon I will be.

Apple Pies
Keto Pancakes w/ Strawberry Syrup

Check out this recipe as a guide.

French Toast w/ Bananas & Honey

French Toast is my go-to breakfast on cheat days. It is easy to make and always hits the spot. I use almond milk, wheat bread, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and eggs.

Homemade Chocolate Cake

I used this recipe on Mother’s Day and it was a hit. The cake came out fluffy and delicious.

Matcha Loaf

Soooo, this was my first time baking with matcha (ordered the matcha on Amazon). This is the recipe I used. If you make this, make sure to eat it quickly because it gets really hard.

Butternut Squash Risotto

This was my first time making risotto and it actually turned out pretty bomb. I made this for my parents’ anniversary – they loved it! Here is a recipe you can use.

Chocolate Cake

Used a box for this, but it still came out pretty good.

Banana Bread

We have used so many banana bread recipes. I am not even sure which one to share. Seems like banana bread has been everyone’s go-to during quarantine. There are plenty of recipes out there that you can use.

Homemade Pizza
Eggplant Marino

I learned this dish from Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza. If you have not tried the Eggplant Marino from Anthony’s, you are seriously missing out. Here is the recipe I used.

Strawberry Margarita

I made this my own. I even added a banana and some blueberries for fun.

Whipped Coffee

Instead of using regular milk and sugar, I used monk fruit sweeter and almond milk. Next time, I want to try it with matcha!

Rollerblading/Biking/Swimming

It is so important to get out there and do a physical activity you enjoy. Getting some fresh air (if possible) is a definite mood booster. During the quarantine I have utilized my bike and pool. I even just got rollerblades from eBay and I am obsessed.

Yoga

Doing yoga and tackling workouts are great ways to be your best fit self during quarantine. I have done yoga challenges on Amazon Prime Video and for a couple weeks now I have been watching Yoga with Adriene on YouTube. As for workouts, I utilize my Fit Balance Board, my weights, Instagram workouts (big fan of Whitney Simmons), and so on. The most important part is to do workouts that you enjoy. That being said, this is the time to experiment!

Manifesting

One of my best friends got me into this and I am such a fan. I got back into journaling and have been putting my trust in the universe. This has also helped me learn to love myself by focusing on what I love about myself physically and internally. I recommend adding some time for manifesting into your quarantine routine since there is so much unknown and negativity out there. Also, take time out of your day to say things you love about yourself while looking in the mirror (stop thinking about what you hate and would like to change). I recommend lighting a candle or smudging (or maybe both) while manifesting.

Self-care

Self-care is so important during this time and it can take many forms. Everyone is different so look inside yourself for this one. To me, this means going outside for 15 minutes and then showering, steaming my face for 10 minutes, putting the Aztec Clay Mask on for 15 minutes, and then lying in bed with spearmint tea and a collagen face mask.

Free Class or Certification

Back in March when the quarantine started I got around to finishing my certification for The Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt. Since I was busy with my MBA classes, that is where I stopped when it came to virtual classes and certifications. Although, yesterday I felt motivated to do a free class on Alison and I loved it. I completed a Journalism in the Digital Age course. As for what is next, I am thinking of some more business courses to compliment my degree, marketing, astrology, and media studies. I will keep you posted on what I learn!

Rearranging/Organizing/Consolidating

I did something a bit drastic (but totally in character)…I completely rearranged my room. I have been feeling so trapped, therefor a change in my living area feels really nice. I love the new arrangement. I now have so much extra room for yoga and other activities. As for organizing & consolidating, I am still working on that. I went through most of my stuff, but I still need to go through more. When it comes to consolidating, remember you can always take pictures of things you love but no longer have room for.

TikTok

Ok…so, just like many others during this quarantine I have gotten hooked on TikTok. Yes, it is addicting but it also brings you lots of laughs!

Movies/TV Shows

This is the time to watch the movies and TV shows you have been wanting to watch but have not had time (and also the time to rewatch your favorites).

Movies I have seen during this time include Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Dick, Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Extraction, Sense and Sensibility, John Tucker Must Die, The First Wives Club, Nerve, Palo Alto, Something Borrowed, and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.

As for TV shows, I absolutely loved Normal People and just finished Season 2 of Dead to Me. If you haven’t seen it already, Killing Eve is phenomenal. I am currently continuing my reality TV guilty pleasure by watching Love Island: Australia and I will say, it has not yet disappointed. I am also watching Hollywood (I recommend if you love the post-World War II Hollywood film world) and Succession. Anime has also sparked my interest during this time of exploration. I saw Little Witch Academia and The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Now, I am throwing it back by watching Sailor Moon.

Quality Time w/ Pets

I had to put my Batman to sleep back in April and it was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. The experience reminded me more than ever how important it is to spend as much time as possible with your pets. I am glad that it all happened while I was home, so I could care for him in the way that he deserved.

Reading

During the quarantine I have been able to catch up on my pleasure reading. I read Chain of Gold, Lady Midnight, and Lord of Shadows. I am currently reading Queen of Air and Darkness, so I can wrap up the Dark Artifices trilogy.

Try a New Look

I have been wanting to try out pink hair without damaging my hair, so I gave Hair Paint Wax a try. It was a bit messy, but I enjoyed it. I recommend giving it a try if you are not ready for permanent or semi-permanent dye. The hair paint wax is more like a makeup; it easily comes off in one wash!
