My Dad has spent years perfecting this recipe and let me just tell you…it does not get any better than this! The Goya Maria Cookies are a great touch. I hope you enjoy this treasured family recipe.
Ingredients
1 large can of evaporated milk
1/2 cup of water
A little less than 1/4th cup of corn starch
1 tablespoon melted butter
1/2 can of condensed milk
Chocolate Syrup (add the amount that you desire)
7 Goya Maria Cookies
Instructions
- Mix evaporated milk and water
- Remove 1/2 cup of mix and set aside
- Add butter and condensed milk to the original mix and mix well!
- Mix corn starch with 1/2 cup of original mixture that you set aside
- Add all mixtures together (including desired amount of chocolate syrup) and stir thoroughly until there are no clumps
- Pour mixture into a microwave safe bowl and put it in the microwave for 6 minutes
- Remove and stir
- Quickly place it back in the microwave for another 2 to 3 minutes or until darkened/bubbling over
- Remove and stir aggresively
- Pour mixture immediately into prepared custard cups (mixture makes 7 cups)
***My Dad always puts a Maria cookie at the bottom of each custard cup
