Due to the Regenerative Medicine Foundation being a client of the agency I work at, Howard R. Miller Communications, I had the pleasure of working the 13th World Annual Stem Cell Summit at the Hyatt Regency Miami this past week. Previously, I had no knowledge of regenerative medicine, the summit, nor stem cell research really. It was invigorating to be a part of something larger than myself–something life changing. I left the experience optimistic and astonished by all the incredible minds working tirelessly to find cures.
What is Regenerative Medicine? It relies on stem cells to regenerate, regrow, and fully heal damaged tissues and organs. Regenerative Medicine is one of the fastest growing fields in medicine and stem cell therapy is at the forefront of research to find viable treatments/cures for Heart Disease, Cancer, Spinal Cord injuries, Parkinson’s disease, Diabetes, Strokes, Alzheimer’s disease, Sickle Cell disease, Cerebral Palsy, sports related injuries, and aging (hip and knee replacements).
About the WSCS: It featured presentations on identifying the causes of disease, growing mini-brains, engineering body tissues and organs, reversing the aging process, accelerating wound healing and more. The conference featured over 1,300 participants, 150 speakers, and dozens of panel presentations with over 35 countries represented.
It was produced by the 501(c)(3) non-profit Regenerative Medicine Foundation (RMF), and this year it was co-located with the Phacilitate Leadership Forum, Cell & Gene Therapy World and Immuno-Oncology Frontiers World conferences. It is the most inclusive and expansive interdisciplinary, networking, and partnering meeting in the stem cell science and regenerative medicine field. With the overarching purpose of fostering biomedical research, funding, and investments targeting cures– the Summit is the single conference serving the diverse ecosystem of stakeholders.
I had the pleasure of interacting with the scientists, philanthropists, government leaders, bioethicists, regulators and companies from around the world that came to the beautiful city of Miami to share their incredible breakthroughs.
I’m glad my job revolved around garnering coverage and making sure consumers are educated and familiar with our present and future, regenerative medicine. Take the time to learn about what it means for our future, along with learning about those who are making monumental differences in the medical and science fields.
FUN FACT:
Considering the global breaking story of Chinese scientists cloning monkeys, many are wondering what it means for human cloning – And that is why everyone should get acquainted with Bernard Siegel, Founder and Director of the Regenerative Medicine Foundation. He is not only an expert on regenerative medicine, but he is also the foremost international expert in human cloning legal and ethical implications.
